Frequently Asked Questions
What is Heroes for Children's?
Heroes for Children's is a grassroots fundraising campaign using email and the internet. "Heroes" raise $1,500 or more, just by asking friends, family and co-workers to lend a hand. It's really easy and it makes a profound difference in the lives of children who need you.
Why should I become a Hero for Children's?
More than 90,000 sick or injured kids are treated at Rady Children's every year. Each child deserves our very best care and compassion. As a non-profit hospital, Rady Children's relies on heroes in the community – both volunteers and donors – to help save lives.
What do I have to do to become a Hero?
All Heroes for Children's commit to raising at least $1,500 for Rady Children's Hospital. You may not have ever participated in a fundraiser before, but don't worry, Rady Children's will help you reach your fundraising goal.
How do I raise the money?
After you register, we will provide you with some proven fundraising tools and give you tips along the way. Once you start asking your friends and family for their support, you'll be on your way to reaching your goal.
How will my gift be used?
Each and every dollar raised directly benefits Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego through our Patient Care Fund. Your generosity makes it possible for us to reach out to more children in wonderful new ways – from purchasing state-of-the-art equipment to providing crucial programs and services, like Child Life Specialists and Chaplains, that are not covered through state funding or through insurance services.
Because Rady Children's is a free-standing, non-profit hospital and because more than 50 percent of the children who come to us have little or no private medical insurance, we would not be able to provide quality healthcare to the children of San Diego without gifts like yours. Your support ensures that every child who comes through our doors receives excellent medical care in our family-centered healing environment.
